Holding Screens

If you are starting a new business or non-profit, and you’ve decided on a name for it, register the domain name(s) and set up a simple site with a holding screen. Apart from protecting the name from cybersquatters, it is difficult to get a high Google ranking with a domain name under six months old. In addition, sort out Google My Business and Google Analytics so that you’re ready to go come launch day. Two sites we’re currently holding in preparation for development are Kayak Majik and the Pittenweem Hub.

In both cases we’ve used full height landing pages with no header or footer, a striking image and some contact details.

The featured image shows the hold screen from the Fèis an Tairbeirt website, which has recently emerged from its chrysalis as a beautiful butterfly.
